In a world of monthly collections, cheap off-shore production and a widely accepted throw-away attitude, Melbourne born Oats the Label breathes a certain calmness and originality into the fashion industry. The clothing is all hand made by Bridie and her mum right here in Collingwood and because it's made to order, requesting a different colour or fabric is just an email away. In fact, most of the clothing has a DIY feel; the linen jumpsuit I'm wearing has adjustable straps and although it's a size small it would easily fit anyone from a 6 to a 12. Also, it can easily transition through all seasons with its ability to be worn solo or used as a foundation to winter layering. Oats breaks the mould of fast paced, mass produced fashion that we've all grown so used to and leads the way to a more humble, environmentally conscious approach to dressing.
I'm wearing the Navy Long Linen Jumpsuit.
